For my User Oriented Collaborative Design class in the Spring of 2012 I was on a team that was investigating how we could add value to the lives of Makers. After lots of observation, interviews, characterization, ideation, and design, we proposed a system called Timeline that makes it simple and painless for Makers to document and share their projects.
These were several underlying themes that we distilled from hundreds of observations about Makers from our user-visits to local Makerspaces.
We made our own personas and frameworks for communicating our understanding of the Makers. This one shows a typical journey that Makers take plotted on axes that relate to learning and teaching.
